DSBM is an extremely complex musical style featuring an overall monotonous sound, long and repetitive distorted guitar riffs, occasional keyboard usage and an overuse of sadly mourning voices, as well as its sub-culture as essentially a sub-culture of emotional unstableness (both for musicians and listeners), we will relate it to the BPD in matter of inconsistency and intense fear of abandonment. If you've never listened to black metal before it would be genuinely hard to get into this sub-set of music.
That was taken from a paper done by José Filipe P. M. Silva

I don't know if I agree with this bit of information truth be told because I am emotionally stable and have honestly fallen right into loving this kind of music truth be told! Who knows though, I have found some amazing one man bands that fall into this realm of music that has renewed my faith in music and humanity as a whole. Yes, it's music about some of the most horrific human emotions that we experience but knowing someone else can feel the same things that we feel on this level is very comforting to me!
There isn't another type of music that moves me quite as much as this kind of music does. Some great examples of artists are people like Xasthur who started in 1995 and put out 8 studio-quality albums over his tenure. Niege of Alcest is also another great example - Simply flawless to think that one human being could have so much talent as to produce the amazing albums that they do!
